“There’s so much of place in the world. There’s less time because the time has to be spread extra thin over all the places, like butter. So all the persons say ‘hurry up’, ‘let’s get going’, ‘pick up the pace’, ‘finish up now’.”

“We’re all obsessed with wanting to be a part of something, to be someone, somewhere at some point in our lives.“

I made a post like this before, but the gifs were off and annoyed me and it didn’t feel right, so I decided to make this again, because I still love this film/book and I still see the parallels every time I watch it.

For those who don’t know, the little boy is Jack. He’s the main character in a film/book called ‘Room’. He’s five, and all his life, he’s lived in a single locked room with his Ma, who never told him about the outside world. One day, they go back out into the world, and Jack has to learn all these things that we take for granted, that we see as obvious. Boys are supposed to have short hair, you can’t dawdle along, you have to do this, you can’t do that. He’s the one telling the entire story, so you get his thoughts and insights on the world around him, and he’s so joyful and optimistic and curious, despite everything.

That’s why he reminds me of our Jack. The joy, the curiosity, the questions he asks and the things he says. The optimism and boundless energy. Though they have nothing in common apart from the name (and even then that’s a stretch because one is really named Sean), I can’t help but be reminded of one when I watch the other. Maybe it’s the fact that Youtube!Jack is secretely four years old or because Room!Jack has a similar way of looking at things, but yeah.

I just really love the story of ‘Room’, and I highly recommend it to all of you, especially @therealjacksepticeye if you haven’t seen it. It’s a beautiful story and it just makes you re-evaluate everything you know about the world, which is always fun! I also really love Jacksepticeye, because he’s my son and he’s awesome and he brings this childish wonder and joy into my life even when all I want to do is stay in bed and not move for several days, even when life is dark and gloomy and scary. So yeah, I just put this together again because I felt like it and because both of these things are a huge part of my life.
